Rep. Eric Swalwell was threatened on Twitter by ex-NFL player Bruce Miller. The threat is so ugly and repellent it is difficult to even repeat it, but I believe it clarifies how the fascist demons have been let loose by the MAGA movement.
Miller appeared to confirm that the message was from him on Thursday, and insisted that he was just “trolling” and playing a “harmless game of ‘would you rather.’
I can’t even comment on that statement without the risk of being sucked down an irony vortex. He must have watched Mike Myers & friends playing it in So I Married an Ax Murderer so it was OK. I have not seen that he has been arrested, just asked to speak with Capitol Police. One can only hope that the Feds consider it serious enough to transcend the sacred rights of Free Speech and arrest and charge him.
Miller played for the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 — 2016 when he was released after being charged with violent felonies. He made it back into the Jacksonville Jaguars but was suspended for six games for violation of the league’s policy on enhancement performing drugs. Anyway, he didn’t last long with the team.
Miller has a history of arrests in violent incidents. In 2015, he was arrested on suspicion of spousal battery in Santa Clara; police in that case said that Miller shoved his girlfriend and broke her phone. He later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor in that case. The 49ers cut him in 2016 after he was arrested and charged with seven felonies for a bizarre episode at a Fisherman’s Wharf hotel. Police in that case said that Miller entered the wrong hotel room and beat a 70-year-old man and his son with a cane. Video from that night showed a bloody and apparently woozy Miller. The wife of the 70-year-old man testified in court that Miller threatened to kill her son and husband; Miller pleaded not guilty and charges were reportedly later dropped.

Have you noticed how many violent MAGAs at the J6 riot had histories of criminal convictions, bankruptcy and divorce? I am speaking empirically of course, I have never seen a spreadsheet with a rigorous analysis on the topic, but it seemed to be a recurrent theme as you watched the arrests.
And this is the demons that were loosened by Trump among the MAGAs. Disinhibition of adherence to the social contract. Boebert and Taylor Greene heckling the President. Boebert having numerous encounters with the police tells people that getting kicked off of flights is “patriotic.” Trump telling supporters and cops to “rough them up.” The gospel that the one who screams the loudest and most frequently, wins. It goes on and on and is a daily occurrence, replete with AR-15s. And this is the difference between Trump and DeSantis. DeSantis is a Machiavellian schemer, involved in his private plans to boost himself with the electorate through his petty vindictiveness. Trump on the other hand, is a demon. He appeals directly to the violent lizard brain; he is tapped into the very heart of darkness. He understands that his success is not so much based on his personal vendettas like DeSantis and Disney, but by lowering his supporters to the demonic level he operates on and where the situations in their lives are all personal vendettas too.
